Hotel Heater

Last night was my first in my new apartment. My room is nice and cozy, not like home but almost there. It kind of reminds me of an Alfred dorm, salt stains on the hardwood, scuffy white walls, and the sense of not knowing what I am doing here. I don't have any furniture, only the clothing rack that the girl before me left. I tried to place most of my possessions on that. I put up new curtains where the balcony doors are. It's so nice to wake up in the morning and see the sunlight squeezing through the wall and the curtain. I have to paint my room, there are spackle marks all over the walls. Hopefully my room will be ready by the end of next week.

My website is coming along. I think I'm about finished, I'm saving my LOOK video for last because I know it's going to take me forever to get all of it up. I'm still deciding whether or not I want to apply to graduate school for next year. Right now I don't know if I'm ready but I feel with in a year I will be. I wish graduate school had rolling admissions. That would make things so much easier.

This looks like a sound filter to me.

What is going on?

Life has been so strange lately. Two weeks ago I was pushed to the side and crushed, the universe had me down. Now suddenly my luck has turned around. I was selected to be apart of the Washington Project for the Arts 2011 Experimental Video Festival and I received an email from Apple to come to one of their recruiting sessions. To top all that off, I hired a taxi to pick me up from the airport on Sunday and I was greeted by a stretch limo. What is going on? It got me in a good mood for my interview today.

Apple seems like an awesome company to work for. Everyone there loves their job AND you are surrounded by everything Apple. I really hope I get the second interview. They have a fairly long interviewing process, in the end it's worth it though. I'm just going to think of myself wearing an Apple shirt and helping a customer. Positive energy.

Tomorrow is my moving day! Already got my keys and I am packed!

Back to NYC I go

The break from the city was fun but now I must go back. There is so much going on this week. My interview is on Monday AND I get the key to my apartment.

remember when things were simple.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have great news about a show I applied to be in! I will post about that later but for now Happy Thanksgiving!!

Chapstick in My Pocket

Today while waiting for the Bus, I found that my lips were not feeling smooth but cold and flaky. Not wanting to take off my backpack to search for my chap stick, I just stood and waited. 3 minutes had passed and I decided to place my cell phone in my pocket. Not being able to fit it in all the way I realized it was because of a small cylinder object, my burt's bees chap stick. I felt a warmth of excitement take over my body. This small sign made me feel like I am going to be okay.

Your Demo Has Expired

I guess next time I download a software that I really need I will make sure that the demo remover works on the version I have. Looks like I might be buying max/msp/jitter. oh well.

I have been sitting in on a class at Harvestworks since noon, the class ends at 6PM. I just wish my Max worked. :-C

Later I'm going to a show, Pulsewave | 11.20.2010. one of the other intern's band is performing there. It's going to be exciting!

Yesterday I worked on my website, I am so close to being finished. I wrote up a new bio, which I think sums up my life very well.

I wanted to write more but I'm going to finish my bagel and coffee.

Damernas Värld
I didn't find a really good image but this one is cool. Plus she kind of has red hair.

Well it's a big big city and it's always the same

This post is more personal than the others.

It's about the excitement of NYC and how much men suck. With in my first week here I managed to catch some guy's eye. Of course he asks me out and takes me on the most romantic date I have ever been on. We continue seeing each other and then it's over. poof. it's done.

It has really helped me better understand the fast pace of NYC and how much men suck.

Also it reminded me of why I am here. I here to better myself and make a place for myself in the art world. Or something like that.

I also keep hearing my mother saying "Men are pigs, watch out!"

Speaking of pigs.... check out these elephants disguised as pandas...

Caffeine Modulated Headphones

Today I managed to dip my headphones into my coffee. I think I played it cool, but really I'm just used to things like this happening to me.

I was also called "Carrot Top" by some nice man in Brooklyn. (Really? Is that the best you can come up with?)

I went back to Harvestworks after a week of working for U.S. Security Associates. It was nice to be back in the "art scene". U.S. Security was fun and different, actually it reminded me a lot of when I worked at the National Guard Bureau, it was a nice change of scenery though. It was cool working in Times Square.

I worked a little more on my website today. I have a better idea of what I want my "Work" page to look like. The layout for this thing is killing me. I just want to be done with it! But I want it to look nice.

This is my life right now. Coffee and the internet.

My relationship with my laptop has grown since I moved to NYC. We travel together, sit together, work together. I think my desktop is jealous.

Last weekend I went to an artist book fair at MoMA PS1. It was amazing to see the amount of people who have created artist books. There were a ton of books I wish I could have bought but I don't have that kind of money. (one day I will get the winning scratcher)

That's all I really have for now. This week I am going to ask The Universe for a job that pays at least $20 an hour. *fingers crossed*

I'm back and in the City

I wish I had started blogging earlier but I guess later is better than never. If you didn't know I moved to NYC on September 15, 2010. I just bought a train ticket and came up. Well, I had an internship lined up at Harvestworks. I have been sleeping on my good friend, Gustavo Galvan's couch for the past 2 months. I have seriously had the worst time trying find an apartment but craiglist saved the day. After seeing over 20 apartments I decided to start responding to craigslist posting for roomies. It was only the second meeting I had lined up and it worked out! I handed in my deposit and first months rent today. My room may not have a closet but it has a balcony. Oh and I can afford it. (I hope)

My internship at Harvestworks has been going really well. So far I have been editing videos and trying to get more traffic onto their vimeo site. I am also working with two other interns to help curate a show. These past couple of weeks I haven't really been around the studio. Two weeks ago I took an intensive max/msp/jitter course. I ended up mixing 10 videos! They should be online soon, I just want to mix some sound for them first.

This week is completely different because I am working a temp job at my friends office. It's in Times Square, which is a really cool experience. I'm just not a big office job person. I get a little restless, it's good money though.

Alrighty, that's my life right now. I'm going to try to update this more. I have a bunch of pictures I want to post.
